Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His papa showed him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to discover anything he possibly could about poker. He routinely would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not allow the detrimental feedback from others annihilate his goal of being one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.

Phil started competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a learning period and coming away with a win wasn’t a common thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an eternal passion for the game of poker. He states that he is picking up skills every single day and is quite humble about his accomplishments. He admits to making mistakes every single session of poker and always strives to improve.

Although Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a regular basis.
