Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by most of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching the age of one. His papa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to learn anything he could about poker. Phil routinely would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the negative feedback from other people kill his goal of being one of the best poker players on the planet.
He began playing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated many of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and a continuing passion for the game of poker. He says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is incredibly abashed about his achievements. Phil knows he makes mistakes in each session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some big tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a normal basis.
