No-Limit Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker player on the globe by many of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandfather taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to pickup every little thing he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not allow the adverse comments from others destroy his dream of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.

He started competing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a teaching experience and winning was not a normal outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated many of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and a continuing love for the game of poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every day and is incredibly humble about his success. He admits to making mistakes in each game of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he likes winning money games on a normal basis.
