Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker competitor on the globe by most of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His grandpa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to pickup every little thing he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the negative feedback from others kill his ambition of being one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.

Phil started competing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a teaching opportunity and winning was not a common outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s learning every single day and is quite abashed about his achievements. Phil admits to making blunders every single game of poker and always strives to improve.

Even though Ivey has won some big tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
