Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker competitor on the planet by most of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wished to pickup every little thing he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the adverse comments from other people annihilate his dream of being one of the best poker players on the planet.
He began competing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a teaching experience and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed a number of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an undying love for the game of poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every day and is quite abashed about his success. He admits to making blunders every single session of poker and always aspires to improve.
Although Phil has won some large tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a normal basis.
