Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker player on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to discover everything he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the detrimental comments from other people destroy his ambition of becoming one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

Phil started playing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a teaching experience and winning was not a normal thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed many of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an undying love for the game of poker. He says that he is picking up skills every single day and is very abashed about his success. Phil knows he makes blunders in each session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Although Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a regular basis.
