Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker player on the planet by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before his first birthday. His grandfather taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to learn whatever he possibly could about poker. Phil would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the detrimental comments from other people annihilate his dream of being one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.

Phil started competing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win was not a regular thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated a number of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an undying passion for poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every day and is very humble about his success. Phil admits to making errors every single session of poker and always strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
