Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker player on the globe by most of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover whatever he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the detrimental feedback from other people annihilate his goal of being one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.
He started competing seriously after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a learning period and winning was not a common outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he defeated many of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to hard work and a continuing passion for poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every day and is quite abashed about his success. Phil knows he makes blunders in each session of poker and always aspires to improve.
Even though Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a normal basis.
