Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His papa introduced him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to learn whatever he could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the negative feedback from other people destroy his dream of being one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.

He started competing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win was not a common outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he defeated a number of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. He admits to making mistakes every single game of poker and always strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some large tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a normal basis.
