Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker contender on the globe by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching turning one. His papa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover everything he could about poker. He routinely told his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the adverse feedback from others kill his ambition of becoming one of the strongest poker players on the planet.

He began competing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a learning opportunity and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he defeated a number of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an eternal love for the game of poker. Phil says that he is learning every day and is incredibly humble about his success. Phil admits to making blunders every single session of poker and always strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a normal basis.
